Pancake's paper consist mainly of business and literary correspondence of John Casey, acting as Pancake's literary executor. Included are letters of Pancake's mother, Helen, to Casey; post cards from Breece to Casey; and letters to both Casey and Helen from readers interested in the life and writing of Breece D'J Pancake. The collection also contains contracts; clippings and other printed matter; articles about Pancake; royalty statements; screenplays based on his stories; book reviews; and papers concerning a controversy over a poem allegedly about Pancake. In addition there is a documentary on videocassette "Breece D'J Pancake : An Appalachian Voice." (VHS, ca. 60 min., "Aired 1/87"). Thomas E. Douglass is a correspondent.
